Mobile starter replacement
One loud click and nothing else is the classic starter symptom. We test the circuit properly first, then replace it wherever the car happens to be sitting.
The single click is the giveaway
Turn the key, hear one solid click, and the engine doesn't turn over. The lights are still bright and the radio still works. That's usually the starter solenoid engaging while the motor itself refuses to spin.
Rapid machine-gun clicking is a different problem — that's almost always a flat battery or a bad connection, which is a much cheaper fix. Telling the two apart before ordering parts saves you real money.
Why the tapping trick stops working
Plenty of people learn that whacking the starter with a wrench gets the car going one more time. That works because it jolts worn brushes back into contact — and it means the starter is on its way out, not that it's fine.
When that stops working, it usually stops working somewhere inconvenient. If you're at the tapping stage, it's worth replacing on your schedule rather than the car's.

Is it the starter or the battery?
One firm click usually points to the starter; rapid clicking usually points to the battery or a bad connection. We test both before replacing anything, because guessing wrong is expensive.
My car starts if I tap the starter. Is that a real fix?
It's a temporary one. Tapping frees worn brushes for a while, but a starter at that stage is close to failing completely. Better to replace it before it strands you.
Can you do this in a parking garage?
Usually yes, as long as there's room to work around the car and enough light. Tell us where it is when you book and we'll let you know.
